| Search engine optimization (SEO) is a substance foreign to many people. Rarely a day passes when I do not get asked a few questions on the topic. So I decided to publish this article in a hope it will help people to understand the basics, and make them a little more comfortable with the whole area.Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of improving the volume and quality of traffic to a web site from search engines via "natural" ("organic" or "algorithmic") search results for targeted keywords. Usually, the earlier a site is presented in the search results or the higher it "ranks", the more searchers will visit that site. SEO can also target different kinds of search, including image search, local search, and industry-specific vertical search engines. The leading search engines, Google, Yahoo! and Microsoft, use crawlers to find pages for their algorithmic search results. Pages that are linked from other search engine indexed pages do not need to be submitted because they are found automatically. The search engines to identify content for their search results by sending spiders robots exploration (analysis) and index your site his (record) details. Complex algorithms are then used to determine if your site is useful and should be included in the search engines search results. Some search engines, notably Yahoo!, operate a paid submission service that guarantee crawling for either a set fee or cost per click. 85% of all website traffic is driven by the search engines. The only online activity more popular than research is a messaging service. 79.2% of American users do not go to page 2 of the results. 42% of users click on the no.1 result. For the under-40 years, the Internet will become the most used in the media the next 2-3 years. You can not pay a search engine in exchange for a high ranking in the natural results. You can get a high if your content is deemed relevant by the search engines. So is there a way to make my content relevant? Yes! 1. Make your content unique! – even if you are reporting about something everybody else reported already doesn't mean you can't write it in your own words. Duplication can kill your site. Even if your are submitting to directories and use the same description for your link it can kill your site. Use different descriptions on every directory. It is hard to do but it is worth it in the long run. 2. Make your content detailed. – This is usually meant for directory submissions. When you submit your link do not create scarce description. Make it good, attractive and detailed. Would you click on it if you find it? Do not just stuff it with keywords, create detailed text about your site so that search engines can detect it as relevant. 3. Create content for the people and not for the search engines! – Now I know this sounds stupid as search engines o not operate the same as people. That is true but search engines are created and modified to search for the content that is usable by people. If there is a content with high amount of keywords, but lack some basic sentence construction, that is just plain stupid and not usable by people. Search engines will ignore such entries. 4. Backlinks are votes – backlinks from relevant sites are the best to get. Backlinks from high-ranking sites are good, backlinks from non-relevant sites can be good if they are not duplicates of the backlinks found already by the search engines. So try not to use same anchor text or the same description for your site. 5. Only permanent thing is change! – Same description used in all directories is proof for automation and search engines do not like that. Changing the form of new backlinks is proof for the fact that people created that link on their own and that is thought to be important. So be unique in your descriptions. |
