Trade

After speaking about credits, it would be good to explain trading little better. After all trade is great source for credits and also trade is good starting point Trading Pacts, Non Attack Pacts or even Mutual Defense Pacts. To start a trade you have to have at least one Spaceport on your planet. Every 5 Spaceports more on the same planet opens up one more trading route available for that planet, meaning that you can open more trade routes at certain levels of Spaceport; these are 1, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 and 30. If you have Spaceport over level 30 you definitely do not need this tutorial.

You open a trade by going to your planets screen, clicking trade, then start new trade route.

Trade routes generate profit based on the distance between the two planets and how many players you are trading with in your entire trade network.  Here is the formula:

Sqrt(lowest base's income) x ( 1 + Sqrt(distance)/75 + Sqrt(Players)/10 )

where Players is the number of other players on your trade network. (Sqrt means Square root or )

If you are a new player you should be looking to set up a trade route with someone in your region or your galaxy.  This way the startup cost is cheap and you will get a return on your investment very quickly.  Ask on the guild board for a trade by posting your location and specifying you want a close trade, and list your planets economy. You can also ask on the main game forum for a trade route, but you should never write your planet location, as you just invite strong pillagers.  Eventually you will probably get rid of your startup trades and transition to long distance trading (1000-3500 distance) and one trade per player, however this is weeks away for you.

Trading with yourself is sometimes a quick solution to set up a trade route and have some income. These trade routes sometimes seems better then with other player, but have in mind that trading with your self takes you two trade routes on different planets and gives you income of one trade. If those two trade routes were with two different players you could get twice more credits. And also trading with yourself affects general trade formula, as you change number of players in the trade network.
